Mr. González Parás joined Santos Elizondo in 1984 and has been a partner since that date. For more than 33 years, his practice has focused mainly on acting as counsel and/or mediator in national and international disputes in civil, commercial and family areas, through judicial or extrajudicial channels, as well as in a wide variety of diverse commercial transactions in the purchase and sale of companies and in general, legal advice in corporate matters. His practice has been distinguished by corporate restructurings, as well as tax and/or estate planning for prominent families in Mexico.

The prestigious international publication Chambers & Partners has recognized him in consecutive years as a leading lawyer in commercial and corporate matters in Mexico. Some of the clients he has represented are: World Bank; AO Smith Corp; Fitch Ratings Inc; Grupo Cementos Mexicanos; Metalsa S.A.; Minco Pipe Inc; Milenium Grupo Hotelero; Grupo Carza; Grupo Garza Ponce; Grupo Javer; Grupo Protexa, etc. and has participated as legal advisor in the following significant transactions, among others:

Acquisition of cement companies such as Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua; Grupo Cementos Mexicanos in the acquisition and financing of CitiBank-Citicorp, for US $120,000,000 million dollars for the acquisition of Grupo Anahuac; Issuance of Notes for US $30,000,000 million dollars of Pyosa S.A. de C.V. International Arbitration in Canadian Courts representing companies of Grupo Gentor S.A. in dispute with Telecom Italia for US $200,000,000,000 million dollars; Lawsuits in New York against Don King Promotions representing a Mexican company for breach of contract; Arbitration in Los Angeles representing a Mexican company against Michael Jackson for breach of contract in Mexico.

Mr. Gonzalez Paras has served as Counsel of business groups such as Grupo Cementos Chihuahua, S.A. de C.V. Milenium Grupo Hotelero S.A. de C.V.; Grupo Lamosa S.A. de C.V.; Fomento Alimenticio S.A., Prodiesa, Constructora Stiva and Fitch Rating Mexico. In 1981, Mr. González Parás worked in the New York offices of Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton and from 1982 to 1984, he was General Counsel of Grupo Proeza, S.A. de C.V. He has also served in the past as legal advisor to the Secretary of the Board of Directors of Grupo Visa, S.A. de C.V. and of several national and international hotel companies.

Mr. González Parás obtained his law degree in 1975 from the University of Monterrey Law School. From 1976 to 1979, he obtained a doctorate degree in Law, Public Finance and Tax Regimes from the Université de Droit, d’Économie et Sciences Sociales of Paris (Sorbonne).

In 1981, Mr. González Parás graduated with a Master's degree in Comparative Law from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In addition to being a member of the Mexican Bar Association, Colegio de Abogados A.C. and the Nuevo León Bar Association, Mr. González Parás taught for more than 8 years at the Monterrey Law School (1983-85) and the University of Monterrey Law School (1985-90).

Mr. González Parás has participated as a member of the Board of Directors of several academic and welfare institutions such as Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey, Facultad de Derecho y Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad de Nuevo León, EFFETA A.B.P., Ciudad de los Niños A.C., Nuevo Amanecer A.B.P., CAPYF, ProSur, Moralización y Acción Social A.C., Fundación Maldonado-Quiroga A.B.P. and Fundación de Retinitis Pigmentosa A.C.
