José Antonio joined Santos Elizondo in January 2024 as a Jr. Partner. He obtained his law degree from Escuela Libre de Derecho (2013) and has more than 12 years of experience, specially in the energy sector.

He has been member of some of the most important law firms in the energy sector in Mexico, being part of the team in charge of implementing the rules of the power wholesale market and the long-term auctions. Likewise, he was a professor at the energy post-graduate department at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México for three years.

Jose Antonio has experience in virtually all aspects of the power sector, including regulatory and technical consultation, transactions and generation projects structuration, implementation of retail and trading companies, coverage, supply and sale and purchase agreements, on-site projects development, sale within industrial parks, residential developments, among others, small-scale generation, M&A in the sector, project finance and participation in the substantial side of constitutional and commercial litigation and arbitration.

Jose Antonio also has experience in the oil and gas sector, participating in consultation, structuring and negotiation of gas and oil-derived products transportation and commercialization, among others.

He has been acknowledged as Reising Star since 2020 by Legal 500 and as associate-to-watch by Chambers and Partners, among others, at national level in the energy and natural resources sector.

Likewise, he has experience in the infrastructure and real state sectors.
